Yvonne Buchanan & Dorene Quinn

In 2016 Yvonne Buchanan and Dorene Quinn purchased a 2.5 acre property in the high desert in Morongo Valley California and began to relocate their studios and visual art practice from Syracuse NY. The property became Buckwheat Space which now includes the living space- an 800 square foot 2 bedroom wood frame homestead built in 1927, a 20 foot shipping container converted into a sculpture shop adjacent to a 12’x 25’ covered outdoor workspace, a 40’ shipping container with a silk screen printmaking and drawing studio and a 20’ shipping container that houses Buchanan’s video and digital studio and doubles as Vilma Exhibition and Project Space. In January 2019 sculptor Rene Gortat will finish a 2-month residency with the completion of the Gortat residence, a tiny space for resident artists to use.
